The Greene County girls track and field team competed twice last week, taking sixth at North Polk and fifth at the Heart of Iowa Conference meet, ahead of this Thursday’s state qualifying meet.
The team will travel to Manson on Thursday for the state qualifying meet. State track will take place at Drake Stadium on May 16, 17 and 18.
Last Monday, the Rams competed at North Polk High School, finishing sixth. Top three finishes came from Emma Ewalt in discus and Kaycee Pittman in the 400 meter hurdles and 800 meter run, all placing first. Bellah Johnson took third in the 100 meter hurdles. The sole top three finish in relays was the distance medley team of Addison Gannon, Kaylee Stalder, Hailey Carman and Pittman finishing third.

Discus – Emma Ewalt, 112-07, first.
High jump – Payton Kokenge, 4-06, sixth.
100 meter dash – Sara Morlan, 14.80, 14th; Ava Binkley, 16.21, 19th; Makenna Dzuris, 16.39, 21st.
100 meter hurdles – Bellah Johnson, 18.06, third; Jennifer Robbins, 19.99, 10th.
200 meter dash – Jennifer Robbins, 32.70, 14th; Ava Binkley, 34.33, 16th.
400 meter dash – Sadie Shannon, 1:10.09, sixth.
400 meter hurdles – Kaycee Pittman, 1:15.53, first; Bellah Johnson, 1:22.25, fourth.

The HOIC meet was held at South Hamilton High School last Thursday, with the Rams leaving with fifth place. Roland-Story won the team championship.
Daniele Madsen placed first in shot put, with Ewalt finishing first in discus and Pittman first in the 800 meter run. Payton Kokenge had a third place high jump finish.
Gannon, Stalder, Pittman and Lila Osterson placed second in the distance medley, with Savannah Lansman, Gannon, Carman and Pittman finishing third in the 4×400 meter relay.
